Can only the door be replaced?
Sometimes, but not by size alone. The replacement must match the opening, glass requirements, hardware locations, movement, clearances, and the remaining enclosure. If compatible parts are unavailable or other panels no longer fit correctly, a broader replacement may be safer and more practical.
Send details without approaching damaged glass
From a safe distance, send photos of the whole enclosure and the affected area, approximate dimensions, project location, and a description of what changed. State whether the door can move and whether any glass appears loose. Federal 16 CFR Part 1201 defines the scope of safety glazing in covered architectural products, including shower doors; it does not prescribe a universal thickness for this or every other glass application.
